The Paradise Box Office Closing: Nani’s Biggest Ever Grosser, Yet the Balance Sheet Tells a Different Story

Nani’s The Paradise has come to the end of its theatrical run. The Srikanth Odela directorial is closing with around ₹170 Cr gross worldwide across all languages, with the Telugu version alone contributing around ₹155 Cr. The film did not add much in its third weekend, and with that, the box office journey is effectively done.

It is Nani’s career’s highest grosser by a big margin. But when you look at the money involved, the story is not as simple as the number.

Bigger Than the Talk Suggested

Going by the word of mouth and reviews The Paradise received, ₹170 Cr is more than expected. The film opened with mixed to negative talk on content, and a lot of films with that kind of response crash after the first weekend. Paradise did not. The massive hype built by its first glimpse and Nani’s growing market carried it through a record ₹76 Cr worldwide opening and a strong first weekend.

The film also gave Nani some firsts. It became his first ₹150 Cr grosser and his first film to cross ₹50 Cr gross in Nizam alone.

Where the Money Was Made, and Where It Was Lost

The problem is the business. The Paradise was sold at the highest prices of Nani’s career, and those high numbers decided the final result in every territory.

Nizam is the clear winner. The film made profits for its distributor here, thanks to its record run in Hyderabad and surrounding areas. Rest of India also did decently.

But the picture changes in other key territories. In Andhra, Ceeded and overseas, distributors are ending with losses. These areas could not recover the high prices paid for the film, especially once the weekday drops set in after the first weekend.

The Final Verdict

Put together, The Paradise ends its worldwide run as a below average to average venture. It is a rare case where a film is the biggest grosser of its hero’s career and still leaves several buyers short.

For Nani, the positives are real. The Paradise showed that his market can open a film at ₹76 Cr and take it to ₹170 Cr even without strong content support. But it also shows that the next step, a clean hit at this level, will need the content to match the hype. With Bloody Romeo with OG director Sujeeth up next, that will be the target.
